Call for Nominations

Each year, Dragonflight holds an election to fill one or more seats on our Board of Directors whose terms will expire at the end of the year. This year we seek nominations to fill one seat. Members will cast ballots at our convention, held this year August 12-14, 2011.

Any member of Dragonflight may submit a nomination.

Duties of a Director

Dragonflight's Board of Directors oversees the organization, appointing and directing Officers of the corporation who in turn perform the day-to-day duties. Individual Directors must attend all Board meetings (currently scheduled quarterly) and assist in this process. Each Director must remain a member of Dragonflight for the entire term of his service. Failure to meet these responsibilities may subject the Director to removal from office as provided for in Dragonflight's bylaws.

Term of Service

Each term is three years, beginning January 1 of the calendar year following the election. The position expiring at the end of this year is currently held by Bill Nitsche. The new terms will run from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2014.

Nomination Process

Any member of Dragonflight may make a nomination. A nominee must be at least eighteen years of age, and eligible for membership in Dragonflight. The member must clearly state his identity. Nominations from non-members or which do not clearly identify the member will be discarded. You may make more than one nomination, provided each is made separately. You may submit your nomination by:

Email nominations to dfelection@dragonflight.org .

Present nominations (in writing) by hand to: Stephen Graham (Secretary of Dragonflight).

Deadlines

Nominations must be received no later than 5 p.m., Sunday, 7 August 2011.

The Election Officer will contact each eligible nominee to verify their desire to stand for election. Nominees who are not eligible to serve or who decline nomination not appear on the ballot. If the election officer is unable to contact a nominee, he will refer back to the person who made the nomination for assistance. In the event a nominee cannot be reached for confirmation before 8 August 2011, that nominee will not be included on the ballot.

While non-Dragonflight members are eligible for nomination, Dragonflight bylaws require all Directors to be members in good standing of the organization. A non-member who is elected to the board must become a member prior to the first day of his or her term.
